Before the Doors Open: How Freestanding Foam Boards Sell a Vision | Signarama Redmond
Jun 11, 2026 by Alex Fong
Most signage tells people where to go. These signs had a harder job — they had to make people believe in a place that didn’t exist yet.
When the team behind 10800 Plaza needed to communicate a bold repositioning vision to prospective tenants, they didn’t rely on a PDF deck or a website link. They put the vision in the room — literally. We produced a suite of large-format freestanding foam board panels that transformed an empty lobby into a preview experience: architectural renderings, floor plan callouts, and feature highlights for spaces like The Vault, the Simulation Space, and the Bike Vault, all mounted on sleek black bases and arranged to guide the viewer through the story.
Here’s what made this project interesting from a signage standpoint: the content wasn’t wayfinding, wasn’t branding, and wasn’t advertising. It was persuasion at physical scale. The panels had to communicate design intent, emotional atmosphere, and practical function — simultaneously — to someone standing in a concrete shell of a space. That’s a communication challenge most print formats can’t solve. A foam board display, done well, can.
The finish and substrate matter more than people realize in applications like this. We’re not talking about a trade show pop-up. These panels needed to read as credible, premium, and permanent — consistent with the caliber of the renovation they were representing. The result was a display system that felt less like temporary signage and more like the lobby itself was already halfway built.
If your business, development project, or brand is in a between-state — under construction, pre-launch, rebranding, or repositioning — don’t let the story wait until the doors open. Print can carry the vision before the paint dries.
