Custom Winery Signage for Viansa Winery & Marketplace

Custom Winery Signage for Viansa Winery & Marketplace

A winery’s signage has a bigger job than simply pointing visitors in the right direction.

From the moment guests arrive, signs help establish the character of the property, guide people through the experience, and reinforce the winery’s brand. And when several properties are being refreshed at the same time, maintaining consistency without making every location look identical becomes an interesting challenge.

That was the goal when Viansa Winery & Marketplace became part of a larger signage refresh involving five wineries operated by Adair Wines.

The objective was to establish a more standardized overall signage system across the properties while allowing each winery to retain its own logo, colors, and visual identity.

For Viansa, that meant turning their designs into a cohesive collection of exterior identification, directional, informational, and wayfinding signs—and then handling the details required to bring the system to life throughout the property.

Creating Consistency Across Multiple Winery Properties

Viansa developed the designs for its signs with guidance and support from our team.

While each of the five wineries would ultimately have its own branding and color palette, the properties needed to share certain visual characteristics—particularly the overall sign shapes, proportions, borders, and layout conventions.

That created one of the most important production challenges of the project.

Artwork had to remain consistent as signs changed in size and purpose. A large roadside identification sign, for example, has very different dimensions and viewing requirements than a smaller directional or informational sign.

Simply resizing artwork wasn't enough.

Our team worked to ensure the sign shapes remained proportional and that details such as the inset outlines scaled appropriately from one sign to another. The result was a signage family that feels intentionally connected, rather than a collection of unrelated signs.

Signage Designed for the Entire Visitor Experience

The finished Viansa signage appears throughout the property and serves several different purposes.

Visitors are welcomed by prominent Viansa Winery & Marketplace identification signage along the roadway. Once on the property, additional signs provide information and directions for parking, visitor parking, buses and limousines, the winery, marketplace, restrooms, and other destinations.

Smaller informational signs communicate property-specific messages while maintaining the same visual language.

Even though these signs perform different jobs, the consistent shapes, typography, borders, colors, and Viansa branding allow them to work together as one system.

That's especially important for a destination property.

Good wayfinding shouldn't make guests stop and figure out where they're supposed to go. The signs should feel like a natural extension of the environment while providing the information visitors need at the right moment.

From Site Surveys to Installation

Producing the signs was only part of the job.

A signage project spread throughout a winery property requires careful planning before installation begins. Our team surveyed the proposed installation locations to determine placement and understand the conditions at each site.

Then came the physical installation.

With numerous freestanding signs located around the property, there were plenty of holes to dig and posts to set. Placement needed to provide useful visibility while allowing the finished signs to complement the landscaping and overall visitor experience.

That combination of planning, production, and installation is one of the reasons we enjoy comprehensive signage projects like this one.

Instead of thinking about an individual sign in isolation, we're able to consider how an entire family of signs works together across a property.

Maintaining Individual Identity Within a Larger Sign Program

One of our favorite aspects of this project is something visitors may never consciously notice.

Viansa's signs are distinctly Viansa.

At the same time, they're part of a larger signage program spanning five winery properties.

That balance was intentional.

Standardizing sign shapes and certain design conventions creates consistency across the organization, but changing the colors, logos, and other brand elements allows each winery to maintain its own personality.

For businesses operating multiple locations or brands, this approach can be particularly effective. A signage standard doesn't necessarily mean every property has to look exactly the same. Instead, it can establish a framework that makes future signage easier to design, produce, replace, and expand while still accommodating the identity of each location.

A Team Effort From Design Through Installation

Projects of this scale work best when everyone involved is working toward the same visual goal.

Viansa brought the creative direction and branding. Our team provided signage guidance, artwork support, production expertise, site surveying, and installation.

The collaboration allowed us to work through the small details—proportions, outlines, sizing, placement and installation—that ultimately determine whether a signage system feels cohesive when it's installed across an entire property.

And seeing the completed Viansa signage in place was particularly rewarding because it represented just one part of the finished five-winery program.

The Final Result

The completed signs complement Viansa's Wine Country setting while giving visitors clear, branded information throughout their experience.

From the roadside identification sign to parking directions, property information and wayfinding, the finished system maintains a consistent look without overwhelming the surroundings.

We're especially proud of how the project came together across all five wineries. Maintaining consistency across multiple properties, multiple sign sizes and multiple brand identities required attention to detail from design support through final installation.

Viansa is a great example of what that work looks like once everything comes together.
