A New Illuminated Monument for Piner Business Center in Santa Rosa

Oct 26, 2026 by Matthew Vella

Client: STG Asset Management, Inc.

Most of our signage projects take us to someone else’s business. This one brought the work right to our own entrance.

Signarama Santa Rosa is a tenant at Piner Business Center, so the monument serving 915–917 Piner Road is part of the property we see every working day. Our name appears alongside the other businesses that share the center.

Working with STG Asset Management, Inc., our team designed, permitted and installed a new illuminated monument to replace the older directory at this entrance. The project brought together a custom-fabricated sign, tenant graphics, foundation work and permit services.

The goal was more than a fresh appearance. The new monument needed to identify the business park, display its tenants, make the street address prominent and accommodate leasing information—with illumination intended to improve visibility after dark.

The finished sign brings those jobs together in one blue-and-gray directory. It is also the first of two planned monument updates, with a second sign to follow farther west on the property.

Before and After: More Than a Change of Lettering

The previous 915–917 monument used a straightforward layout: large white address numbers on a blue header, mostly red tenant names across a light-colored center, and “Piner Business Center” along the blue base.

It communicated the address, businesses and leasing contact within a largely flat presentation.

The replacement keeps those essential categories of information but changes how they are organized.

The address remains across the top. The business-center name moves to a vertical blue section. Tenant identities occupy separate white panels with projecting gray surrounds, while STG’s leasing information has a defined panel of its own.

The difference is visible in the before-and-after photographs: instead of reading primarily as a list of names, the new monument presents a collection of distinct business identities within one coordinated structure.

The property has one directory, but the businesses do not have to share one typographic style.

That is an important part of this project. The overall sign has a consistent appearance, while each tenant retains its own recognizable logo or lettering.

Giving Each Business Its Own Space

The upper portion of each directory face uses three wide panels for Calvary Chapel The Rock, Aces Ball Club and Signarama. Below them, smaller paired panels accommodate additional businesses and leasing information.

The panel arrangement establishes a clear structure without making every identity look the same.

Aces Ball Club uses its prominent script treatment. Signarama carries its red logo. Other panels use their own lettering, symbols and supporting information. White backgrounds and matching gray surrounds connect these different designs.

The close-up photographs show another detail: the frames project forward from the main gray surface. This adds depth and separates the individual panels visually, even before illumination becomes part of the presentation.

The elevation drawings detail framed acrylic faces, while the work order specifies white acrylic tenant panels with digitally printed translucent graphics and a luster laminate. Those materials form part of the internally illuminated sign package.

The result is a directory that accommodates several brands without losing the appearance of a single, deliberately designed monument.

Keeping the Address Prominent

Tenant identification matters, but visitors also need to know that they have reached the correct property.

On the new monument, 915–917 remains the highest and most prominent address element. White numerals sit against the blue header, separate from the tenant information below.

The elevation specifies push-through white acrylic for the address. The finished photographs show the raised numerals projecting from the blue surface, giving the address a dimensional treatment of its own.

The property name follows a different direction. “Piner Business Center” runs vertically along the blue side section rather than occupying the base as it did on the previous sign.

Together, those elements frame the tenant directory: the address above, the business-center name alongside it, and individual businesses within the main gray face.

Each piece has a defined place. The address does not have to compete inside a tenant panel, and the property name remains part of the sign’s overall architecture.

Designed for Visibility After Dark

Illumination was a central reason for this update.

A daytime photograph can show the layout, color and dimensional details, but the project was also designed to address how the property is identified after daylight fades.

The new monument is internally illuminated and double-sided, as identified in the elevation drawing. The specified white acrylic faces and translucent printed graphics are part of that illuminated construction—not simply opaque graphics placed on an otherwise unlit directory.

The purpose is straightforward: give the business park and its tenants an illuminated identification point at the entrance.

This is a design objective, not a claim about measured traffic increases or a guaranteed viewing distance. The meaningful change is that lighting is built into the new monument as part of the project.

For Piner Business Center, that makes nighttime visibility part of the signage plan rather than treating the monument only as a daytime feature.

Two Faces, One Property Identity

The monument presents its directory on both sides.

The supplied photographs show the same blue-and-gray structure and tenant identities from opposing viewpoints. The vertical business-center name changes sides relative to the viewer, while the address remains across the top.

That double-sided arrangement makes the directory available to people viewing the monument from either side of its position beside Piner Road. The permit elevation includes both front and back views, making the two faces part of the design from the outset.

It is worth distinguishing those two faces from the larger property plan: this completed monument is double-sided, and a separate second monument is planned farther west.

The two sides shown in the finished photographs are not two completed signs.

Making Room for Property Management’s Message

The monument also gives STG Asset Management a dedicated leasing panel.

That panel has a different job from the tenant logosAlpha B omega. The tenant panels identify businesses operating at the center; STG’s panel provides a point of contact for leasing inquiries.

Including it within the same framed layout keeps the leasing message connected to the property’s directory rather than presenting it as an unrelated addition.

The finished sign therefore carries three kinds of information:

Where you are. Which businesses are here. Who to contact about leasing.

Those messages serve different visitors, but they belong together at the entrance to a multi-tenant property. In this design, each has its own space without requiring a separate sign for every purpose.

From Design and Permitting to Installation

The visible faces are only part of a monument-sign project.

For Piner Business Center, our scope included the monument design, permit drawings, sign-program submittal and City of Santa Rosa permit services. The work order also included custom fabrication, graphic production and installation with a concrete pad.

The installation specification called for a reinforced concrete pad, pier work and dual-post mounting. The finished photographs show the monument standing on its concrete base beside the driveway and sidewalk.

Those details are less immediately noticeable than the blue header or tenant logos, but they are part of delivering a complete sign at the site.

The project was not just a new set of tenant graphics applied to the old directory. It brought together a replacement monument, its supporting installation and the documentation associated with the work.

For STG, the project combined those responsibilities within one coordinated signage update.

A Project With a Personal Connection

There is something different about designing a sign that represents the place where your own business operates.

Our Signarama panel is one part of this directory—not the entire purpose of it. The sign also represents neighboring businesses, the business center itself and property management.

That gives the project a shared-property perspective. The directory needs to work as a whole, with a consistent structure that accommodates different names and identities.

One of the completed photographs captures that connection particularly well: the new monument stands in the foreground, with our Signarama storefront visible across the parking lot.

It is a project for a customer and an improvement to the business park we call home.

The First of Two Planned Monument Updates

The completed sign serves the 915–917 entrance.

A second monument is planned farther west on the property. That future phase will extend the signage update to another part of the business center; it is not included here as completed work.

For this first phase, the before-and-after comparison tells the story clearly. The older address-and-name directory has been replaced by a double-sided, internally illuminated monument with individual tenant identities, a prominent address header and integrated leasing information.

The familiar property name remains. Its presentation has changed substantially.

What This Project Shows Property Owners

A monument-sign update can involve more than replacing a name or refreshing a color.

At Piner Business Center, the project reconsidered how several kinds of information fit together. It retained prominent address identification, introduced defined tenant-logo panels, repositioned the business-center name and incorporated internal illumination.

The individual choices are visible in the finished sign. Taken together, they create a different presentation for the property’s entrance.

For property owners and managers evaluating their own signage, this project offers a practical example of treating the monument as both property identification and a shared directory for the businesses behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did Signarama Santa Rosa provide for Piner Business Center?

Our team handled the design, permitting and installation of a replacement illuminated monument for the 915–917 Piner Road entrance. The project scope included the custom monument, tenant graphics, permit drawings and submittal, and installation with a concrete pad.

Did this project replace an existing monument sign?

Yes. The new 915–917 monument replaced the older directory at that entrance. The replacement changes the presentation from mostly text listings to individually framed tenant panels, with a blue address header and vertical business-center identification.

Is the new monument illuminated and double-sided?

Yes. The elevation identifies it as internally lit and double-sided. The two directory faces are part of one completed monument. Improving visibility after dark was a key objective of the project.

Can different tenant logos appear within one coordinated monument design?

Yes. This project combines different tenant logos and lettering styles within matching white panels and gray surrounds. The common structure connects the directory while allowing the businesses to retain their individual identities.

What materials were specified for the tenant faces?

The work order specifies white acrylic faces with digitally printed translucent graphics and 3M 8519 luster laminate. The elevation also identifies push-through white acrylic for the address numerals.

Does the monument include leasing information?

Yes. STG Asset Management has a dedicated leasing-contact panel within the directory. It presents property-management information alongside, but separately from, the tenant identities.

Have both planned monuments been installed?

This article covers the first completed monument at the 915–917 entrance. A second monument is planned farther west on the property.
