How do I properly care for my car door magnet?

How do I properly care for my car door magnet?

Oct 16, 2024 by Erica Coppa

Taking proper care of your car door magnet is key to keeping it in tip-top shape and making sure it sticks around for a long time! - Make it a weekly date to remove your magnet for some TLC. Depending on where you live, you might even need to give it a daily spa day! Clean both the magnet and your car with a gentle soap and a soft cloth - they both deserve some love and attention. - We all need a break from the sun sometimes, including your magnet! On super hot days or freezing cold ones, give your magnet a little vacation indoors at room temperature. Store it in a place that's as neat and tidy as your car after a wash. - Your magnet deserves to be treated like royalty, so no stacking other stuff on top of it! Let it be the star of the show on your car door. - If your magnet starts to look a bit worse for wear, it's time to say goodbye. Bubbles, wrinkles, or bent corners are a sign it's ready to retire. To keep your car door magnet from going on a grand adventure without you: - Stay within the speed limit, so your magnet doesn't get any wild ideas about flying off into the sunset. - No magnet pile-ups allowed! One at a time is the way to go when decorating your vehicle. - Sorry, magnets, but watercraft and aircraft are off-limits for you. Stick to hanging out on cars. - Give your magnet a break before heading to the car wash. It needs some time off too!

Choosing the best sign type for your needs!

Choosing the best sign type for your needs!

Jan 19, 2024 by Erica Coppa

If you’re in the process of looking for a sign, you’re likely trying to attract some sort of attention, make a statement, or provide necessary information in a straightforward manner. Signs are ever present in our daily lives – we constantly read them and take direction from them, and are even inspired by them. With so many different options to choose from, it’s understandable if you become a bit overwhelmed with all the possible options. Let us help you out with a comprehensive guide to all of our signage products. This way, you’ll be able to decide exactly which sign type is right for your project.

A-Frame Signage

A-Frame Sign A-Frame Signs are portable and easy to display. Most commonly, they are used outside of storefronts, pop-up shops, and in/around large events. You can also use an A-Frame sign as directional signage, as the sign is large enough to give clear instructions on where people need to be. A-Frames are offered in multiple colors, in standard and deluxe versions, and are printed on a 24” x 36” coroplast sign!

Banners

A-Frame Sign Banners are a classic, inexpensive type of signage that is often used to greet/welcome those attending a specific place or event. You’ve most likely also seen banners that advertise grand openings. Banners are seen across a variety of different scenarios! We have a custom range of banners to choose from, with our smallest being 1 ft x 2 ft, and our largest vinyl banner size being 6 ft x 20 ft, so you’ll be sure to find exactly the size you need. The banners come with hemming included, and you have the option of selecting grommets to help display your finished banner. Our banners also have 3 different thicknesses to choose from, 13oz, 15oz and 18oz!

Retractable Banner

A-Frame Sign Retractable Banners, also called Retractable Banner Stands, are similar to vinyl banners in material but can differ in functionality. Retractable banners stand up on their own and are most commonly used to display special promotions or information. Though we do have tabletop sizes, our largest size is one that won’t be missed. Retractable banners are bold and eye-catching. You can even create a single thin or multi-part backdrop with retractable banners for any given event.

Car Magnet

A-Frame Sign Car Magnets are perfect for marketing on the road. Display your business logo, contact info, and even a special promotion on a delivery van or service vehicle, and watch the business roll in – a bonus if your business is located in a metropolitan city with inevitable traffic jams. Our car magnets come in a standard 24" x 12" size, and performs well in adverse weather such as rain, snow, and heat.

Floor Decals

A-Frame Sign Floor Decals are great because they don’t take up any amount of space, they provide clear direction, and are even ideal to add a touch of your own discrete branding on the floor. Our floor decals come in lightweight and heavy-duty options, which you would choose depending on the kind of surface you’d apply it to, and are even offered in a variety of shapes and sizes to pair with your custom design.

Window Signage

A-Frame Sign Easy to apply on any window, our Window Signage can be used for both informational (hours open) and promotional signage, and even decorative signage. Not sure which window signage type you’d need? Window Perf can only be displayed on windows, while Window Decals can actually be displayed on most flat surfaces. There is also no residue left behind from any of these sign types. Keep in mind that the temperature and weather plays a part in being able to apply outdoor window graphics. Rigid Signs

A-Frame Sign Rigid Signs are a cost-effective solution to both indoor and outdoor signage needs. We carry multiple types of rigid signs, so you can rest assured that there’s a sign type in our round-up that’s right for you. All of our rigid signs have a conveniently large list of sizes and shapes to choose from.
  • Aluminum (Max Metal) Boards – Probably one of the heaviest of our signage options, Aluminum Boards make for a sleek logo or branding signage. These can be used for indoor or outdoor signage.
  • Acrylic Boards – Making it big in the wedding and event industry, Acrylic Boards are often one of the go-to sign types for event signage, such as welcome signs, seating charts, and drink menus. This sign type is also a solid option for logos/branding.
  • Corrugated Boards – Corrugated Boards are commonly used in multiple scenarios because they are both lightweight and durable. Use corrugated boards as directional signage, security signage, construction signage, parking signage, and much more.
  • Foam Boards – Foam Boards are a versatile option because they are widely seen across different industries. For example, Foams Boards can be a valuable asset for a project/presentation, but they also make great welcome signs or seating charts for weddings and special events. Foam Boards are an easy choice for in-store promotional signage.
  • PVC Boards – PVC boards can be used both indoors and out, making it a useful sign type when it comes to making permanent signage. Own a restaurant with a set menu? Consider displaying your items on a large, visible PVC board and hang it on your walls with ease.

Applying Vinyl Decals in Cold Weather!

Applying Vinyl Decals in Cold Weather!

Jan 18, 2024 by Erica Coppa

Winter is a difficult time if you’re trying to apply vinyl graphics for outdoor advertising! Vinyl is sensitive to temperature as this type of material expands and contracts according to the temperature of whatever it’s applied to. It’s also heavily affected by the temperature and weather around it. This is why it may be difficult to use vinyl in the winter. Some problems that the cold weather can cause are as follows: The adhesive on the vinyl will be less effective. This makes it difficult for it to stick to surfaces as efficiently as it should. Why is my vinyl decal not sticking? You need to know how to properly stick a vinyl decal. It also helps to know what can vinyl decals stick to so you don’t try on something that’s never going to work. All vinyl has an optimal temperature range. Extreme cold can affect the performance of the face film and adhesive and make installation difficult if not impossible. On the flip side, extreme heat can make the adhesive too aggressive. So whether you're applying vinyl graphics in Alaska or Hawaii, January or June, you may have some environmental challenges. The most conformable vinyl in the world will only stay put if the adhesive works. In temperatures below the minimum, the adhesive becomes so brittle it can’t “wet out” or mold to and bond with the substrate. If you’re near the minimum surface temperature, it may stick initially, but fail to bond well enough to become permanent. This could lead to adhesive failure after delivery to your customer; the cardinal sin of sign making.

    Effective Sign Design Tips

For effective signage, you’ll first need to choose the right type of sign, then you’ll want to make sure your design includes the following:

    • The right placement or environment
    • The right material to accommodate its environment
    • The proper messaging that attracts and relates to your audience
    • A clear, easy to read, and eye-catching design

You want your sign to be eye-catching yet simplistic. It should drive traffic to your business and increase engagement without being overwhelming.

The goal for your sign is to get your message across fast and effectively which means you will need the perfect sign design that follows the above rules, and these sign design tips below can help.

Sign Design Tips for Effective Signage

    1. Choose the Right Type of Sign

Understanding the purpose of your sign is important when choosing which one to use. One of the biggest factors when choosing the right type of sign is your budget, however, no matter how big or small your budget is, you need to consider who your audience is and the message you are trying to send them.

Some signs are successful at delivering certain messages while others are not.

For example, wall decals and floor graphics are a great option for interior use or for storefronts while yard signs and banners are perfect for placing outside near the road, or other places where there is high visibility.

    2. Create the Perfect Message

What is the purpose of your sign? Is it to simply direct your audience, to promote a sale or grand opening? And who is your audience? What message will they be more attracted to?

To create the perfect message, you need to make sure it relates to your audience and delivers the intended purpose.

For example, if you are designing a restaurant sign, think about how you can tailor your message to your specific audience. What do they care about most and how can your sign’s message make your audience feel like they are getting the best value? Are they interested in happy hour, rewards programs, or pizza deals?

    3. Keep the Environment in Mind

The environment is important to consider when designing your sign. You want the environment to complement and elevate your sign.

Misplaced signs and misuse of signs can often lead to confusion or distort the message you are trying to send. For example, a “grand opening” sign is best placed near or at the entrance of your location or other place where there is high traffic.

You also don’t want your sign to be lost in its environment. For example, if you’re placing a wall sign on the exterior red brick of your building, you want to avoid using too many reds or other colors that will blend into the brick and compromise readability.

    4. Keep the Design Simple

Keep in mind that a straightforward, simple yet stunning sign design is most effective. Whether you are designing a poster, banner, window graphic, storefront sign or any other type of indoor or outdoor signage, you want to keep the design simple.

To keep your sign design simple, you’ll want to make sure your sign includes:

    • A short and compelling message that gets straight to point and generates interest
    • Enough negative space between design elements for better readability and so it stands out more
    • Limited amount of design elements—don't include 20 images on one sign, your sign will become overwhelming and turn people away

Less is more when it comes to many things, but especially with sign design. Keep your message concise. The average person will only spend a few seconds looking at your sign, so you need your sign to grab their attention right away.

    5. Choose The Perfect Font

When designing your custom sign, fonts play a significant role. If your company already has branding in place or a set typeface in your brand guidelines, you will want to continue to use those fonts within your sign design for consistent branding.

However, if your logo uses a decorative font, and you have not chosen a secondary font, you’ll want to invest some time in finding a complimenting, easy-to-read font, like a sans serif font, to use for other messaging like within your sign design.

Another thing to consider about your font is the size. Consider how close your audience will be when they first notice the sign. You’ll want to make sure the size of your font is large enough to be visible from this point.

    6. Color & Contrast are Key

Choosing the right colors and making sure your sign design has contrast are essential for effective signage.

You should use your brand’s colors to maintain brand consistency or colors that compliment and represent your brand and message depending on the type of sign you are designing. For example, a logo sign needs to be consistent with your brand colors while a sign promoting a sale can venture into other colors but should still represent your brand while enhancing your message.

Also, make sure to use contrasting colors throughout your sign to help make your custom sign stand out and to increase readability. Keep light-colored fonts on dark backgrounds and dark-colored fonts on light backgrounds.

    7. Don’t Forget Consistency

Brand consistency is extremely important, and your sign designs should be consistent as well to optimize your results and help build better brand awareness.

For example, if you have a banner, poster, and table tent that are promoting the same message, like a big sale, you want the design to be the same as well on each type of sign. The more people see something the more they will remember it increasing the chances they will act in your favor.

    8. Use Imagery

Depending on the type of sign you are designing and its purpose, imagery may not be necessary. However, in most cases, imagery or graphics that relate and enhance your message should be included.

Choose images of high quality that attract your audience. For example, if you are in the real estate industry, and are promoting a house for sale, include an image of the house. Or if you are designing a menu board for your restaurant include a few images of your most popular dishes.

Make sure to also take into consideration the placement of your images. You want to make sure where your images are placed within your sign design does not interfere with the text, making it hard to read. Place everything in a way where your design elements flow together so your audience can view your sign with ease.

    9. Choose the Right Material

There are many different materials to choose from and depending on the purpose of your sign you will need to choose the right material, so your sign is built to meet your goals.

Indoor signs can use any material an outdoor sign would however outdoor signs need to use a material that is made to last through any weather condition like aluminum, vinyl, PVC, or Acrylic.

You also need to consider what the life span of your sign will be. Is your sign's purpose just for a special event or is it going to be used for years to come? For example, PVC or aluminum will last longer than foam board or coroplast.
