What Are Wayfinding Signs?
Wayfinding signs, as the name would indicate, are signs that help people find their way. The term “wayfinding sign” is a large umbrella, accounting for all manner of directional signs that help people navigate spaces and demarcate key locations such as exits, restrooms, and other essential places.
These also include:
- floor plans
- area maps
- building directories
- street signs
- directional signs
In most instances they streamline a person’s route, while in others they are a matter of safety.
Wayfinding signs take many shapes and forms, whether they are small signs mounted to ceilings and walls or large pylons or monuments. Large places of commerce, community centers, and campuses require them to keep people from getting lost, and even small businesses benefit from them to point out the locations of important offices, administrators, and other important landmarks.
No matter the size or purpose of the location, an efficient and well thought out network of wayfinding signs is an essential component for your business signage needs.
