Carnegie Mellon University partnered with Signarama Pittsburgh to create a custom environmental graphics and architectural signage package for the new Maggie Murph Cafe located inside Hunt Library in Oakland, Pittsburgh.
The project was designed to transform the cafe space with a combination of dimensional signage, custom wall graphics, and architectural branding elements that reflected both the history and atmosphere of Carnegie Mellon University while creating a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
Our team fabricated and installed a large-scale mix of custom 3M vinyl wall graphics, printed 1/2-inch wood graphics, halo-lit channel letters with an acrylic reveal, and architectural column wraps throughout the space. The project included two large feature walls along with two custom wrapped columns designed to create a cohesive visual experience inside the cafe.
One of the standout features of the project was the custom halo-lit channel letter signage installed over the feature wall graphics. The illuminated dimensional letters with acrylic reveal created a clean, modern appearance while complementing the historic imagery incorporated throughout the environmental graphics package.
The environmental graphics featured archival-inspired imagery and custom printed wood elements designed to celebrate the history and culture of Carnegie Mellon University. By combining layered materials, dimensional elements, and architectural finishes, the final installation created a warm and visually engaging interior environment within Hunt Library.
To complete the installation, our team also added custom 1/2-inch black PVC base molding throughout the space to provide a clean, finished appearance and seamless integration with the surrounding architectural elements.
As a Pittsburgh sign company specializing in environmental graphics, dimensional lettering, architectural signage, and branded interior spaces, Signarama Pittsburgh managed the project from fabrication through final installation. The completed space now serves as a visually striking destination within Carnegie Mellon University’s Oakland campus.
