Honoring Our Veterans at GM Flint Engine Operations | Flint, Michigan

General Motors and Flint, Michigan share a history that stretches back generations. Signarama Flint has its own long history serving businesses and organizations throughout the Flint area, and we’ve been fortunate to work with General Motors as a longtime customer. That made the opportunity to create a large-scale veterans recognition display for GM Flint Engine Operations especially meaningful to our team. General Motors approached us with a vision for a prominent display wall inside the Flint Engine Operations facility—one that would recognize employees who have served in the United States Armed Forces while creating a lasting tribute to their service. The centerpiece of the project is a large American flag wall graphic that creates a dramatic patriotic backdrop. Alongside it, a coordinating banner identifies Flint Engine Operations and incorporates both the GM and UAW logos, tying the display directly to the people and facility it represents. Mounted over the American flag is the custom “Honoring Our Veterans” recognition display. Dimensional lettering gives the header added depth, while individual plaques recognize GM Flint Engine Operations employees who have served our country. Military branch emblems representing the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force complete the display. This project also has a personal connection for Signarama Novi & Flint. Our owner, Beth Powers, is a veteran, making our company both veteran- and woman-owned. Having the opportunity to work with GM on a project dedicated to recognizing fellow veterans made this collaboration particularly meaningful. Our design team worked closely with GM to turn the original concept into a cohesive installation that spans more than 15 feet tall and 33 feet wide. Even during installation, the display was already getting attention. Employees passing through the facility shared their excitement about the finished wall and the opportunity for their own military service—or that of their coworkers—to be recognized alongside their peers. The finished project demonstrates how custom signage can do much more than identify a building or promote a brand. Environmental graphics, dimensional signage and recognition displays can transform an ordinary interior wall into a space that celebrates the people and history behind an organization. We’re proud to have partnered with General Motors on a display that recognizes the men and women who served our country and gives their contributions a permanent place of honor at GM Flint Engine Operations.
