They wanted to do a promotion about how their products can be recycled, as many states began opting out of using Styrofoam products due to their inability to be recycled. The company had come up with a process to recycle their products, set up a program to collect used foam, and then resell it to third party processors who would then turn it into other products.
The client came to us to help them promote the program through a large mural. We had already created several interior murals for their factory in Michigan, as well as their plant in California, so they knew we had the capabilities. The factories serve as education centers for school groups and local politicians about the benefits of the recycling program, and why their foam products can and should be used today. Given this usage, they thought a mural could easily help tell their story. We have also wrapped their semi trailers with the same promotional messages in the past, so this was not new to us.
The client designed and created the mural, and we printed it out in 48" wide segments using the very same material used in our vehicle wraps. The vehicle wrap material comes in 48" wide rolls, so we are able to print to any length we need.
We have a 60" printer at our SIGNARAMA Brighton store, so that also made the printing an easy task. We printed out the mural and then applied it to the factory walls. The insides of these factories are just regular cinder block walls, so we were able to apply it with relative ease.
We used heat guns and bonded the material right to the wall, so when it was finished, it looked like it had been painted in place, which is the look the client was going for. Since the vehicle wrap material is so tough — it can remain on a vehicle for 3 - 5 years — we knew it would last for many more years on a factory's interior wall, where it's protected from the sun and elements.
All in all, the client was happy with the results, and it has been seen by many visitors to the site, where they can learn about the value of foam recycling and how it will benefit the community.
