Sometimes Your Old Sign is the Best New Sign!
We had a really interesting and challenging project recently for a local church. They thought they wanted something new – they really were unsure – but once we did some client interviews and visited the site, we decided to talk them into keeping their sign after all – with some improvements.
The sign we found when we arrived was perfectly situated, wonderfully scaled for the site, and cohesive with the entire campus and architecture. We were scratching our heads for a big to help them figure out what change to make.
The sign was a poured concrete ‘slab’ that showed a little wear and tear and needed new messaging altogether.
We drew up plans to refurbish the sign and create new messaging all at one time.
The final look was beautiful, but still just as cohesive and well designed for the site.
Services we offered:
- Reburbish the concrete to repair water damage and then ‘cap’ the sign with aluminum structure to help prevent future damage.
- Replace the lettering with lifetime warranted acrylic, custom painted to match their facility colors.
- Repaint the entire structure to give it a fresh look.
We were all pleased with the result, and we were happy not to scrap the entire thing and toss in a landfill somewhere. Preserving the past and modernizing show respect to the original creative intent, the church budget, as well as the environment.
