For example, the technology for wrapping vehicles has changed dramatically over the last 10 years. Rather than just being a large sticker-type of wrap that was applied to a single panel of the vehicle, nowadays, there are a variety of techniques for application and a variety of materials available to use for all different types of vehicles.
Digital printing was available 10 years ago, but the quality of the print wasn't very great. And while the print technology was evolving, so was the vinyl used to wrap vehicles. 3M has been a strong leader in the vinyl material industry, and currently Signarama uses two different types of 3M materials to wrap vehicles, depending on the level of difficulty. One of the materials can actually stretch to accommodate different vehicles’ curves and angles.
Another benefit of this new vinyl is that it does not require heat to shrink the wrap to fit the object. Since this material stretches so well, our installers can literally make the material conform to the different angles and curves of the item to be wrapped.
Many of our stores have used it to wrap a number of different objects, not just vehicles. Signarama Evansville will put covers on laptop computers, Signarama McKinney (Texas) has wrapped guitars, and we've wrapped house boats and golf carts.
With the latest digital printers and vinyl technology, we're able to wrap just about anything. Whether it's a car, boat, personal water craft, guitar, or even golf cart, we can cover it. And we're looking forward to the next 10 years of new print and film technology developments.
