Community-driven campaign supports Helping Hand Rescue Mission in Huntington Station, NY
As the New York Knicks pushed through their championship run, excitement spilled out across Long Island. In Huntington Station, that energy didn’t just stay in living rooms or sports bars—it showed up in shop windows, front yards, and sidewalks.
At Signarama Huntington Station, it started with a simple idea. The team began creating Knicks-themed displays, lawn signs, posters, and player cutouts to help fans show their support. What followed was something no one quite expected.
What started as a celebration quickly turned into a movement.
As local media outlets, including News12 Long Island, picked up the story, word spread fast. People began stopping by the shop to grab their own signs—some for their homes, others for businesses or events. Instead of charging, the team made a simple ask: if you can, make a donation to Helping Hand Rescue Mission.
The response was immediate, and it kept building.
By the end of the campaign, Long Island residents had contributed $8,730, including a generous $1,000 gift (from an individual donor). Signarama Huntington added another $2,000, bringing the total to $10,730.
“What started as a fun way for Knicks fans to show their team spirit became something much bigger,” said Dawn Bent, co-owner of Signarama Huntington. “The response from our community was incredible. We watched people come together not only to celebrate a historic moment in New York sports but also to support neighbors in need right here in Huntington Station.”
Inside the shop, the printers ran, the materials stacked up, and the work kept moving. But for the team, success was never about output.
“The real success wasn’t the number of signs we printed,” Bent said. “It was seeing Long Islanders rally around a cause and demonstrate just how generous and supportive this community can be.”
Signarama’s story began in New York in 1986, and nearly four decades later, the brand still has a deep presence across the state. That same entrepreneurial spirit that launched the business continues to show up in moments like this—locally driven, community-focused, and rooted in relationships.
Today, as Signarama marks 40 years in business, that foundation is still what sets it apart: a global network with a local mindset, where each location has the freedom to serve its community in its own way.
Campaigns like this highlight something unique across the Signarama network. Every owner brings their own creativity, ideas, and energy to the table—and often, those ideas go far beyond signage itself.
Whether it’s supporting a local nonprofit, rallying around a community moment, or simply finding a creative way to bring people together, these efforts reflect the heart of the brand.
This one just happened to start with a playoff run—and end with a $10,730 donation.
