Traffic signs are used to direct traffic flow.  They guide the motoring public to the proper locations, with directional text and symbols.

Most, but not all road signs, traffic signs, safety signs, parking signs, and street signs are mounted via two carriage bolts onto steel, green-painted "U" channel poles of 12' or greater length.  In climates prone to prolonged winter temperatures below the feezing mark, the bottom of the "U" channel pole must penetrate to a soil depth below that of that area's long-term "frost line".  The frost line
marks the depth to which soil has been measured to freeze even in an abnormally frigid winter.  By sinking the pole this deeply, the pole and sign avoid "heaving" or dislocating due to the fluctuations of the soil's temperature.

In more urban areas, it is not uncommon to find road signs, traffic signs, safety signs, parking signs, and street signs mounted to large
diameter poles using screwed steel strapping.

Road signs, traffic signs, safety signs, parking signs, and street signs that exist on private proerty are not subject to government
regulation, and therefore may be made of different (usually thinner) aluminum or other materials.  Mounting requirements may differ as well.
Signs may be mounted to buildings directly with screws, for example.

Bolingbrook can make road signs, traffic signs, safety signs, parking signs, and street signs from materials normally carried in stock.  For larger quantities (usually a dozen signs or more), Sign*A*Rama Bolingbrook may order pre-made signs from fabricators.  Check with your local jurisdiction to determine if a sign permit is required.  If the jurisdiction REQUIRES signplacement (e.g. No Parking / Fire Lane, or No Parking / Handicapped), no permit will normally be needed.
