As the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to add new precautions to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines, Signarama owners around the world have continued to innovate and create new products to help protect employees, guests and customers. The medical community in particular has had an increasing need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used every day by healthcare workers and medical professionals (doctors and nurses) to help protect themselves, patients, and others when providing much needed medical care. PPE helps protect these medical employees from potentially infectious patients and materials and other potentially dangerous substances used in healthcare facilities and in delivery.

According to the CDC, PPE shortages are currently posing a tremendous challenge to the US healthcare system because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Healthcare facilities are having difficulty accessing the needed PPE and are having to identify alternate ways to provide patient care.

Signarama Answers the Call

With PPE supplies stressed or running low, Signarama owners have stepped up to answer the need. Many of our locations have repurposed sign making equipment to serve a new purpose. Equipment that was typically used to create signs, banners and other traditional marketing materials is now being reformulated to produce much needed supplies for the medical community such as PPE, sneeze guards, face shields and intubation boxes. Traditional signs such as floor graphics, A-frames and banners are also in production to help communicate safe distancing messages and other social distancing guidelines as set forth by the CDC.

Intubation boxes, protective boxes or plexiglass boxes have been fabricated to help create a barrier between a patient and a medical professional. Intubating a sick patient is said to be a very high-risk procedure and requires a doctor or nurse to stand over the patient getting very close to his/ her face. During the procedure, patients often cough or gasp, spreading liquid such as mucus or other droplets.

Intubation boxes are being used as an additional layer of protection in addition to traditional personal protective equipment like N95 masks, surgical masks and disposable exam gloves. Next to the traditional PPE, intubation boxes are another way for healthcare workers to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
