Looking for an eco-friendly way to clean up those campaign yard signs after the election?

Even though there is no longer a commercial recycler in Fort Collins that will recycle your corrugated plastic election signs, there are still ways you can recycle other types of yard signs or reuse the ones you can't recycle. Some ideas include:

• Keep that campaign sign for your favorite candidate in your garage to use again in the next election if you think the candidate may be running again. Their campaign will save money on providing a new sign for you, and reuse is great way to help with a more sustainable election. 
• Recycle your plastic bag type yard signs (usually used in larger national or state-wide races) with your grocery bags or other plastic bags. Most grocery stores or big box stores accept these types of plastic bags for recycling.
• Recycle paper board fold-over signs (they feel like milk cartons) with your regular curb-side single stream recycling along with those milk cartons. Be sure to fold to fit in your recycling bin. 
• Remove the wire stakes from your signs and recycle those with your other metal recycling at a local metal recycler. Please don't put these in your single stream curbside recycling. 
• Check with local scout organizations, churches or other non-profits who have yard sales or other events who may be able to reface your corrugated plastic signs with handmade posters for their events.
